Hello english world!!..
How can I start?, it’s complicated, I’m not good at english yet!..but I have my reasons to be writting in english.
As you know or maybe not, I went to United States on december 2015 until march 2016, it was a “work and travel” program, I was in my last year of university so I had to take this opportunity.
It was the first time I was flying on a plane and at the same time, it was the first time I was going to another country, I felt so excited… I heard a lot of U.S. and since I was a kid I wanted to go to Disney. But wait!, that wasn’t the main reason of my travel. As I said I was finishing university and the “W&T” program was only for university students, 3 of my friends did the programa a year before and they said that it was a really good experience and I should do it!.
So I’ve saved as much as I could, and my parents lent me some money so I could start a new adventure.
The state I chose was Florida, because it’s a warm and hot state and the company I chose was Publix, a really big supermarket chain in the U.S.; my friends have recomended me that company because of the people to work with and because it was a really nice place to work and they weren’t wrong.
I went to the Publix from Pelican Landing, before traveling I had to choose in which area I would like to work, so I decided to go for “Produce”..and since then I’ve never regreted for doing the program and for choosing Publix. I met really nice people, they were very kind and funny. Each time I hear or I start talking about the program, I always think of Publix, not only as a place where shopping is a pleasure, but also as a place where you can learn, discover and have emotional experiences, and that’s what happened with me, I’ve learned a lot from the people I’ve been working with, Adam, Joshua, RJ, Ian, Becky, Smith, Kirk and some others. They were very, very and very patient with me (they deserve a medal, lol), they taught me many things and not only from work, they taught me their culture, the way they think, they helped me with my english, although now I have problems again, but for me…they are people I would not forget.
I want to say, Thak you Publix, because you gave me one of the best experience ever and gave me the opportunity to meet really nice people. I would never forget the long talks that I had with my produce friends meanwhile we were working, also for giving me the opportunity to meet people from my own country and some others countries as well, but above all, I want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to know more about my self, for teaching me lessons, for changing my mentality for good and many things.
It was sad when I realised that the program was finishing and that I would have to go back to my country, go back to my life, find a new job,… but that’s how life is…you just move on and take with you the good things in orden to be a better person, so…again, Thank you Publix for giving me an opportunity to learn and grow up.
PS: Sorry about my english, I’m still learning, if you want to help me..please write to me, thanks.
